Ohad Atia
Ohad is a choreographer and teacher from Israel.Ohad is young, vibrant and represents the newly developing crop of young choreographers in Israel. This will be his first time to Hora Aviv although he has been in Europe on numerous occasions as a guest teacher.
For under 30 year old choreographer and teacher, Ohad had his hands full. He has been dancing in the Haifa City dance troupe for two years as well as with the legendary Yonathan Karmon troupe. Currently Ohad is teaching 5 days a week in his own sessions. Ohad has choreographed several dances including: Koko Jambo Perach Ba-aviv Torero Milim Kmo She-Bateva Ohad is going to be a fresh addition to the Hora Aviv team. Shlomo Maman
Shlomo is an unbelievably talented and prolific choreographer, a legend!
For the Fifth year, he is the artistic director of Festival Carmiel, the largest Israeli folk dance festival in
Israel and perhaps the world.
Shlomo remains very popular throughout the years, and he still comes up with hit after hit.
He recently produced:Seret Shachor Lavan Beahava Ubemilah Tova At Cheruti Haderech Haleli Yerushalayim Ne'imat Hashikorim Chamaniyot Mul Hashemesh Shlomo has created so many classics that young and old dancers admire! Eyal is a choreographer and a teacher from Israel. He is a First timer at Hora Aviv!As many teachers in his generation, Eyal started dancing as a teenager and did not stop ever since. After earning his certification as a Teacher/Insructor, teaching Israeli folk dances became his main occupation.
Eyal is multitalented person:He teaches in his own sessions Six days a week across Israel. He has danced professionally for several years with the prestigious dance troupe of Inbal. He is also a singer having produced his own commercial album. Eyal has choreographed over 15 dances. The notable ones include: Yad Beyad Shimri Et Libech Shemesh Aduma Kol Hatziporim Chalom Matok Leorech Hayam A score of families of dancers who learned their first steps from Eyal are still dancing in his sessions. As a teacher, Eyal attended several workshops in Europe over the years. You will have the opportunity to see Eyal in action, teaching, dancing and even singing! Don't miss it! Nissim is a teacher and a choreographer.Nissim has been with us since our first Camp, 10 years! Like many Israelis, Nissim fell in love with Israeli folk dancing so much so he made it his career, 'living and breathing' it for over two decades in Israel. He has successfully led, taught and run large dance marathons. He also attended teachers' workshops and directed performing groups.
Nissim has taught in numerous dance camps across Canada and the US including Gilron dance retreat. Nissim is talented, dedicated, funny at times and personable! Most of all, he is down to earth kind of a guy. Nissim is married to Debbie (his ex-dance partner) and has 3 children. Last year Nissim moved back to Israel after beeing the leader of one of the largest dance session in the Miami area. His leadership in the Miami area has been transfered to his son, Ma'or who will be with us this year at Hora Aviv. Nissim is currently run two dance sessions in Israel focusing primarily on partner dances. Nissim has choreographer a few dances: Yafa At (You are beautiful) Salat Tichoni (Mediterranean Salad El Tiboron Ahavuni (Love Me) Linda Ah Nissim's strength is in his excellent programming with blend of "oldies," nostalgic dances and the latest dance hits. Together with Don Schillinger, a teacher from the Philadelphia area, they delivered a memorable programming over the past few years! |
Karina Lambert
Karina is a teacher and choreographer. She leads a large dance session in Los Angeles. In addition, she teaches in smaller sessions, adults, teenagers and children in many Religious schools. Karina has choreographed many line dances and taught Ven A Vivir at Hora Aviv last year: Oye El Boom Am Echad Azov Oti Tazizi Eshal Mirdaf Nirkod Nismach She is young and vibrant and a true inspirational dancer. Moshe Shem-Tov
Moshe, a native Israeli, is the leader of the largest dance session in the Washington DC area. He is very popular and Thursday Night Dancing became a tradition of dancing and social gathering for people of wide range of dance levels and ages.Moshe introduced his first choreographed dance, Siniorita at Dance Washington. The dance gained instant acceptance throughout US and later in Israel. Moshe has over 18 year experience in teaching and leading Israeli folk dance groups. He is charismatic with the ability to charm and energize the people around him. During the day, Moshe busy running his successful Heating and Air Conditioning Business. Ma'or Ben-Ami
Maor is a dance teacher and Markid in the Miami area.Following his father Nissim's footsteps Maor learned dancing and teaching from the source. He represents the upcoming generation of Israeli Folk dance teachers. After his father's move to Israel last year, Maor took over Nissim's sessions in the Miami area and has expanded them since then. M'aor is charming, gentle, and is beloved by young and old dancers alike. Rumors say that he is so good that the Miami dancers wished Nissim would have moved to Israel earlier! Maor is vibrant and energetic! He will constantly be on the dance floor pleasing and energizing the young and old. Bring everyone for a great treat. Don Schillinger
Don is an established and popular dance leader in the Philadelphia area. He is currently running a few weekly sessions. Don also leads the popular weekly summer outdoor session (at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Thursdays). He has participated in many dance workshops as a guest instructor around the country. He founded RAK-DAN Israeli Dancing with a mission to reach the non-dance community and to introduce them to Israeli Dancing through synagogues Hebrew schools, Jewish day schools, special events, festivals, parties, and simchas (Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and weddings).Don's energy is contagious. He is skilled in teaching dancers of all levels from beginner to advanced, and of all ages. Don is married to Karen and has two children, Oren (age 5) and Carolina (age 2). Danny is a legend when it comes to teaching and leading dance sessions. He is leading two weekly dance session in New York. The Y session with Ruth Goodman is considered the largest and most successful dance session in the US. His positive energy inspires everyone around him. Mona Goldstein
Mona, a teacher and choreographer, has grown up in the Israeli folk dance world. She started dancing as a child and in high school she performed with Yesodot dance Troupe.
Mona currently teaches Israeli folk dancing twice a week: one in Washington, DC and one in Maryland. She choreographed:Ohevet Ozevet Tzar Meod Harumba with Moshany At Hora Aviv last year she taught her line dance, Tzar Meod, and has introduced with Moshany the partner dance, Harumba. Those who may not know Mona, she is energetic and has bubbling personality. She promised to make the Hora Aviv experience friendly and exciting. Moshany is a veteran teacher and also a choreographer.
He has been leading Isreali dance sessions for the past two
decades. Recently he has moved to Palo Alto, California where he runs a weekly dance session. He is certified Dance Instructor by the Israeli Folk Dance Institute in Israel. Moshany was the founder and Camp Director of the Atzma'oot Israeli Dance Camp, in Monterey, CA, from 1983 to 1996 As a choreographer, Moshany created: Bat Hasultan (The Sultan's Daughter) Lirkod Nolda (Born to Dance) Biglal Haruach (Because of the Wind) Chai Et Ma Sheyesh (Live with what you have) Ken Shel Ahavah (A nest of Love) Harumbah (The Rumba) Moshany has a bubly personality and fun to be with. He has his own DJ business to bring Israeli dancing to Jewish events.
Nani TIBI
As our Technical Director, since the inception of Hora Aviv, Tibi insures that our sound and music are at top performance! After a dancing career in Israel,with companies like "Shalom 80" and "Inbal Dance Theater",Tibi moved to the USA to pursue his education in choreography and theatre production and eventually developed his skills in film/video editing. He designed and built several film editing suites, among them, the first "Russian Television Network" (RTN) in the USA. Tibi has edited numerous award winning films including The EMMY award winner 'Public Service Announcement' "It's Up to YOU" in 1995. Currently, Tibi serves as the Vice President and Director of Technology at the "Hartley Film Foundation" in Westport, CT; as Multi-Media Producer for "Chromate Industrial Corporation", Bohemia, NY; and has his own Multi-Media Production business in Trumbull, CT. Is our Tai Chi instructor and Reiki Master. Avi has extensive experience in Tai Chi Chuan, Chen style Tai chi, and Okinawa style of Kung Fu. He will offer FREE Tai Chi sessions to help you relax and relief your muscles tension. Avi studied bio-energy healing for one year. After attending several advanced courses he attained the level of Reiki Master. Avi uses Reiki to help people with variety of ailments ranging from physical injuries to migraines, and from backaches to cancer. For those who do not know... Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan) is a Chinese martial art that helps in dealing with tension and stress. Tai Chi is characterized by soft, slow, flowing movements that are executed precisely and emphasize power rather than brute strength. The history of Tai Chi traced its roots to the 2000 BC era and the practice of yoga in ancient India. In the 13th century, a Taoist monk developed Tai Chi as we know it today. There are several styles of Tai Chi. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a method of natural healing based on of hands energy healing technique. The energy is a force similar to the Chinese mystic force of Chi (meaning Universal Life Force Energy). Reiki was developed in Japan by a Buddhist monk in the late 1700s and early 1800s. |
