Avi PeretzChoreographer and teacher from Israel. Avi Peretz attended our first Dance Washington Camp! He is one of the top talented and popular choreographers in Israel today. Avi is well respected and liked by his peers and his dancers. As prolific choreographer, Avi produced 60-75 dances since 1984! Among the popular ones are:
Kshe Navo (When We Will Come) Zman Laila (Night Time) Re-ach Vatzeva (Smell and Color) Ha’Chaim HaAcherim (The Other life) Shir Shel Yom Cholin (Song for Ordinary Day). And more recently: Laga'at Ba'osher (Touching Happiness) Korasone Kfar Todra Al Tishkechi Et Halayla (Don't Forget the Night) Rokedet Pasadoble (She's dancing Pasadoble) Avi is teaching Israeli folk dances 3 night per week in northern Tel Aviv and Ra’anana, and has attended dance camps in Europe, Canada and US. Avi was elected and served as a member of the Board on the Israeli Association of Teachers for Israeli Folk Dance. The Association organizes dance workshops and produces the notable Festival Karmiel. Avi is married to Batya (whom he met on the dance floor) and has four children. He earned his BA and MBA degrees in Industrial Management from Ben Gurion University, Israel. Avi graduated also with J.D. degree from the Tel Aviv University School of Law. For those who do not know Avi, he is also an excellent teacher and has a pleasant personality that is fun to be with. Join us for the opportunity to be inspired by Avi and his love and joy of Israeli folk dancing. Victor GabbayChoreographer and teacher from Israel. Back from last year by popular demands. Victor is talented choreographer who earned the respect of his peers across the world as well as the admiration of dancers around the world. He produced more then 40 dances including some that are considered classic Israeli folk dances. Among his popular dances are:
Tefani Li Ktzat Makom (Make room for me) Yom Huledet (A birthday) Tipa Ve-od Tipa (A drop and a drop) Cheruti (My Freedom) Babustanim (In the Grove) Ma'amin Beahava (Believing in Love) Maga Shel Mal'ach (Angle's Touch) Ne'imat Midbar (Desert Tune) Victor has been a dance teacher since childhood. In the Army he was trained as a dance teacher. Victor is specifically known for creating couples dances that are filled with grace and romance. Currently Victor runs several weekly dance sessions in central Israel. He established a few performing dance groups among which is "Nachal Galil". Choreographer and teacher from Israel.A young choreographer from Lod, Israel. Kobi is back from last year by popular demands. His dances include:
Yare'ach Limon (Lemon moon) Tagid Et Ze (Tell it) Yashanti Etzlech (I slept at your place) Zorba Osher (Happiness) Makom Balev (A place in the heart) Coprotche Amazonas Kobi leads a weekly dance session in central Israel, Lod. He is considered one of the rising dance choreographers in Israel. This will be Kobe's third camp in the US as a teacher including Gilron Dance Retreat. Kobi is loved by all and is bringing young and fresh atmosphere to Dance Washington. He will also bring his latest creations. Kobi started his dancing career at the age 12. He is a member of several performing dance troupes and has performed in Israel and abroad. He has a teaching certification from the "Teacher Association" (Irgun) in Israel and has been a "Markid" for the past 5 years. Kobi works extensively with Gadi Bitton in his weekly dance sessions and during special dance events and marathons. Kobi considers Gadi Bitton as his mentor and they both share similar dance philosophy. We are looking forward to have Kobi with us! Nissim Ben-Ami
Teacher and part time choreographer.Nissim has been with us since the first Dance Washington Camp! Like many Israelis, Nissim fell in love with Israeli folk dancing so much so he made it his career, 'living and breathing' it for over two decades in Israel. He has successfully led, taught and run large dance marathons. He also attended teachers' workshops and directed performing groups. For the past several years Nissim has been the leader of one of the largest dance sessions in the Miami area. He has also taught in numerous dance camps across Canada and the US including Gilron dance retreat.. Nissim is good! He is dedicated! He is funny! He is personable! He is talented! And most of all, he is down to earth kind of a guy. Nissim is married to Debbie (his ex-dance partner) and has 3 children. Nissim has choreographer a few dances: Yafa At (You are beautiful) Linda Ah Nissim will treat us to some of his favorite "oldies," nostalgic dances and also to the latest dance hits. Don is an established and popular dance leader in the
Philadelphia area. He is currently running three weekly sessions (Tuesdays, Cherry Hill, NJ; Thursdays, Philadelphia, PA; and recently a new Beginners group on Mondays in Philadelphia). Don also leads a weekly summer outdoor session (at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Thursdays). He has participated in many dance workshops as a guest instructor around the country. He founded
RAK-DAN Israeli Dancing with a mission to reach the non-dance community and to introduce them to Israeli Dancing.Don is energetic and his energy in dancing is contagious. He is skilled in teaching dancers of all levels from beginner to advanced, and of all ages. If you have children, or if you or your spouse is a beginner dancer (that is a person with little or no prior dancing experience), come and treat yourself to the teaching offered by Don. Don is married to Karen, his dance partner, and lives in Center City, Philadelphia, with their three-year-old son, Oren. A Teacher and Choreographer. Moshany is a veteran teacher and had his own dance sessions for the past two decades in California, Miami, New York/New Jersey, and now in the Washington, DC area. His weekly sessions have been geared for adults and children and ranged from 25 - 150 dancers. Moshany is also a choreographer who created: Bat Hasultan (The Sultan's Daughter) Lirkod Nolda (Born to Dance) Biglal Haruach (Because of the Wind) Chai Et Ma Sheyesh (Live with what you have) Harumbah (The Rumba) Moshany had been recognized for his "years of devoting spirit, time and energy to keep the community dancing" at the Horati Dance Celebration, June 2001, New York. He is also a certified Dance Instructor by the Israeli Folk Dance Institute in Israel. Moshany was the founder and Camp Director of the Atzma'oot Israeli Dance Camp, in Monterey, CA., between 1983 to 1996. Currently, Moshany is studying for his Master degree in Business Administration. In his spare time he brings Israeli dancing and Jewish spirit as a DJ to various Jewish events such as Bar/Bat Mitzvah and weddings. Ken Avner
There is hardly anyone in the Israeli folkdance community who does not know Ken. But how many know that
Ken reluctantly started dancing in 1975 at the insistence of his younger sister and hasn't stopped since??Today Ken lives in the Boston area. He is involved in every aspect of Israeli dance: running weekly sessions (since 1977), teaching workshops, producing sound for dance performance, directing and performing with dance troupes in the US and Israel, and directing the annual Israeli Folkdance Playshop. Ken earned his BS Ed degree in Dance from Georgia State University. Ken's enthusiasm and love of dance, his skills as dancer, teacher, and "markid" have brought him high compliments, and his skills will be available to us to enjoy at Dance Washington. It is said that Ken makes dancing more fun for everyone. Come and see for yourself! Helen Rubin
Helen leads a weekly dance session in the Washington DC area. She earned her reputation as a superb dance teacher. At Dance Washington she is the Queen of the "Missed a Step?" sessions. If you missed a step or two during the regular teaching sessions, do not worry! Helen will fill the gap during specialty sessions!Larry Marcus

Our Massage Therapist. Adam is a certified massage therapist with 7 years of experience. He has been kneading sore muscles at Dance Washington for the past three years. Back by popular demands, he will bring his table, lotions, strong hands and positive spirit to make your camp experience more pleasurable.
