Currently Victor runs several weekly dance sessions in central Israel. He established a few performing dance groups among which is "Nachal Galil".

If you are looking for romance in Israeli folk dancing, come and experience some of Victor couples dances.

Shlomo Maman

Picture of S. Maman Shlomo is unbelievably talented and prolific choreographer, almost a legend. For the second year, he is the artistic director of Festival Carmiel, the largest Israeli folk dance festival in Israel and perhaps the World.

Shlomo remains very popular throughout the years, and he still come up with hit after hit. He recently produced:

Shlomo has created so many classics that young and old dancers learn to admire! We will celebrate his talent with a special program.

Kobi leads a weekly dance session in central Israel, Lod. He is considered one of the rising dance choreographers in Israel. This will be Kobe's first camp in the US as a teacher. As during last year with Yaron Carmel, Kobi will bring young and fresh atmosphere to Dance Washington. He will also bring his latest creations and the most recent hits produced by others.

Kobi started his dancing career at the age 12. He is a member of several performing dance troupes and has performed in Israel and abroad. He has a teaching certification from the "Teacher Association" (Irgun) in Israel and has been a "Markid" for the past 4 years.

Kobi works extensively with Gadi Bitton in his weekly dance sessions and during special dance events and marathons. Kobi considers Gadi Bitton as his mentor and they both share similar dance philosophy.

Kobi is preparing special dances for this Camp. We will post them as they become available. We are looking forward to have Kobi with us!

Moshe Shem-Tov

Picture of Moshe Shem-Tov Moshe, a native Israeli, is the leader of the largest dance session in the Washington DC area. He is very popular and Thursday Night Dancing became a tradition of dancing and social gathering for people of wide range of dance levels and ages.

Moshe introduced his first choreographed dance, Siniorita at Dance Washington. The dance gained instant acceptance throughout US and later in Israel. Since then, he also chreographed, Rak Otah.

Moshe has over 14 year experience in teaching and leading Israeli folk dance groups. He is charismatic with the ability to charm and energize the people around him. Moshe will teach some of his own new dances and also the latest dance hits.

During the day, Moshe busy running his successful Heating and Air Conditioning Business.

Nissim Ben-Ami

Picture of Nissim Nissim is back from last year! Like many Israelis, Nissim fell in love with Israeli folk dancing so much so he made it his career, 'living and breathing' it for over two decades in Israel. He has successfully led, taught and run large dance marathons. He also attended teachers' workshops and directed performing groups.

For the past 6 years Nissim has been the leader of one of the largest dance sessions in the Miami area. He has also taught in numerous dance camps across South America, Canada and the US. Nissim is good! He is dedicated! He is funny! He is personable! He is talented! And most of all, he is down to earth kind of a guy. Nissim is married to Debbie (his ex-dance partner) and has 3 children. His older son, Maor, an accomplished dancer himself will be with us this year.

Nissim will treat us to some of his favorite "oldies," nostalgic dances and also to the latest dance hits. He is that versatile.

Guys and gals, bring your dance shoes so you can keep up with Nissim. Beware! Nissim may infect everyone with FUN FEVER!

Ken Avner

Picture of Ken There is hardly anyone in the Israeli folkdance community who does not know Ken. But how many know that Ken reluctantly started dancing in 1975 at the insistence of his younger sister and hasn't stopped since??

Today Ken lives in the Boston area. He is involved in every aspect of Israeli dance: running weekly sessions (since 1977), teaching workshops, producing sound for dance performance, directing and performing with dance troupes in the US and Israel, and directing the annual Israeli Folkdance Playshop.

Ken earned his BS Ed degree in Dance from Georgia State University.

Ken's enthusiasm and love of dance, his skills as dancer, teacher, and "markid" have brought him high compliments, and his skills will be available to us to enjoy at Dance Washington. It is said that Ken makes dancing more fun for everyone. Come and see for yourself!

Maor Ben-Ami

Picture of Ma'or
Ma'or is an energetic young dancer and teacher from the Miami area. By following the footsteps of his father Nissim Ben-Ami, Maor represents the next generation of Israeli Folk dancers.

Maor works very well with children and beginner dancers. Bring your youngsters for a great treat. You will be very pleased!
