Wilson College is located in Chambersburg, south Pennsylvania, off I-81 and close to Gettysburg National Military Park. The college was founded after the Civil War and since 1874 has been educating women in the liberal arts and sciences. Wilson College is situated on 230 rolling acres in the Cumberland Valley with its 20,000-resident community. The college is graced by stately trees, the winding Conococheague Creek, and many Victorian and limestone buildings. All this makes the college a pleasant and comfortable place to be.

Dancing Facilities

There are 4 ALL WOOD dance floor facilities. The largest facility can accomodate comfortably 300- 400 dancers. Please note that on the main dance floor ONLY appropriate soft sole shoes are allowed!!



Dining & Snacking

Meals are all-you-can-eat, served cafeteria style in the spacious Dining Hall with its high ceiling, round tables and comfortable chairs. Friday evening there will be festive sit-down dinner. Meal time will be flexible to accommodate both dancers and non-dancers. Kosher and vegetarian meals are available. On Sunday there will be a cook-out lunch on the spacious, grassy area along the Creek (weather permitting). At night a campfire (a Kumzit) will be held with food and sing along (weather permitting). On Monday, for those who must leave early, a packed bag lunch for the road will be available. In addition, snack bar and vending machines are available for your convenience throughout the campus. During the dance sessions drinks & snacks will be provided.



Recreational Activities

Photo of the CreekOn Campus relaxation and recreation are yours. You may take a walk around the campus or take a canoe ride on the winding Creek. Feel free to visit the Center for Sustainable Living - a sort of working farm. You may take advantage of the sport facilities, including newly renovated tennis courts, heated indoor pool, and even horseback riding through the college’s Equestrian Center.

Besides the proximity to Gettysburg National Military Park, the college is within comfortable driving distance to Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania, with its cultural offerings as well as Hershey Park and the Amish communities of Lancaster County. Other easy side trips include Harper’s Ferry and Antietam battlefields. There are 5 state parks within 30 miles of Wilson College.



How To Get To Wilson College

FROM POINTS NORTH AND EAST
* New York City area take I-78 west (150 miles) to I-81 south
* Philadelphia area take PA Turnpike (I-76) west (130 miles) to I-81 south.
* New York State and Northern Pennsylvania take I-81 south

From I-81 take Exit 6 (Chambersburg) and follow Route 30 west (Lincoln Way). Turn right on North Second Street and proceed north (Route 11) until it merges into Philadelphia Avenue. The main college entrance is on the left, at the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and College avenue.


FROM POINTS SOUTH
* Baltimore area take I-70 west (70 miles) to I-81 north
* Washington, DC area take I-270 north (30 miles) and then I-70 west (40 miles) to I-81 north
* Richmond area take I-95 north (60 miles) to Route 17 north (75 miles) to I-81 north.

From I-81 take Exit 5 (in Pennsylvania) and turn right onto Wayne Avenue. Proceed west on Wayne Avenue until it joins with North Second Street (Route 11 north) which merges into Philadelphia Avenue. The main college entrance is on the left, at the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and College avenue


FROM POINTS WEST (W.Va., OH, PA)
* From Cincinnati take I-71 north (70 miles) to Columbus
* From Columbus take I-70 east (200 miles) to PA Turnpike (I-76) east (70 miles) to Breezwood (via Wheeling, Washington and New Stanton).
* From Pittsburgh area take PA Turnpike (I-76) east to Breezwood.

From Breezwood take Route 30 east (local, 40 miles) to Chambersburg. Turn left on North Second Street and proceed north (Route 11) until it merges into Philadelphia Avenue. The main college entrance is on the left, at the intersection of Philadelphia Avenue and College avenue.


BY AIR**
Fly to Baltimore Washington International (BWI) and take a commuter flight to Hagerstown (Md) Airport which is 20 min. cab drive from Wilson College. BWI is about 90 minutes drive and Harrisburg (PA) Airport is about 75 minute drive from the college.

** If you tell us your flight arrangements, we may be able to arrange for volunteers to pick you up from Hagerstown airport.
